Chloe's Cantina & Courtyard

Plant Rescue Mission

"Hey, Chloe, you want some plants?" my neighbor asked.

"Yeah. Sure." I said.

"Great – because I'm moving, and they need a good home," he said. "Otherwise, this bulldozer is going to take them."

"I will give them a good home," I said.

And that is how I recently rescued some plants.

Meet the newest members of the Courtyard community:

Ferns

IMG_6749 Date planted: September 24

I planted them on both sides of the bird bath/frog pond. Funny thing is, I almost got ferns at the nursery recently to plant in this very spot.

They're going to like the shade here.

Dichondra

This is a perennial groundcover. I saw a bunny standing on it one morning. He liked that we're finally installing carpet in the Courtyard.

Also rescued growing on some wood pieces:

The other plant you see in the wheelbarrow in the first picture of this post is alyssum (I think). I planted it in a pot, but it didn't take root. I'm glad it didn't because I learned it's an invasive species in California.

The ferns and dichondra are rooting well into their new home.
